Welcome to the Registration FAQs page.

How do I register?

The simple answer is that you click on the Register button on the Registration page. Please read the information on that page before registering, especially the part about discounts. For details about each type of discount, please read the section that corresponds to your discount on this FAQs page.

Once you have clicked on the button and have accessed the registration form, please follow the prompts to complete your registration. You will be asked to create an account and a password the first time you use the registration system.

The registration system sends auto-emails, including a registration confirmation. Please be sure to check your junk or spam folder for email from "registration@locationtech.org."

What are the registration fees?

Registration fees vary; please see the fee table on the Registration page.

Do I need to pre-register for the sessions I want to attend?

Yes and no!

The "yes" part: pre-registration is required for all workshops. Space is limited; pre-registration for workshops opens after the program is announced.

  • There are five workshops on Monday morning, May 14
  • Additional workshops will be offered at Community & Workshop Day on Thursday, May 17

The "no" part: for the talks on Monday afternoon through Wednesday, no pre-registration is required.

What payment methods can I use?

We accept all major credit cards.

Do you have group discounts?

We can offer discounts to groups of five (5) or more people from the same organization. The larger the group, the bigger the discount (up to a point!). Please note that group discounts cannot be applied retroactively and can not be combined with other discounts (sponsor, speaker, etc.). Only registrants not receiving another type of discount "count" toward the group discount. Please email us for more information on group discounts or visit the Registration page.

If you're a sponsor, we love you, and we prove it by sending you regular emails. We will send you an email with information about how to register with your discount code. If you're reading this and it is past late March and you don't recall seeing the email, please email us. If you plan to register with a sponsor discount, please do NOT register until you have your discount code.

How do I register as a speaker?

If you join the hallowed ranks of accepted speakers and qualify for the discount, your discount and registration information will be included in the "accept" auto-email that you receive after the program is chosen. In most cases, it is better to wait to register until you know the status of your talk submission. However, if you wish to register before January 1 to get the lowest price, and you are later accepted as a speaker, we will adjust your registration price to reflect the new cost.

How do I register at the Government rate?

If you work for a government agency, you may register at the Government rate. To register at the rate, select "Government" as the Registration Type. Follow the prompts. Your registration will be pending until you are approved for the pass via email. (Please be sure to check your junk or spam folder for email from "registration@locationtech.org.")

How do I register with a Non Corporate & Freelance pass?

We know that not everyone has their registration fees paid by their employers. For those of you who pay your own fees, we are able to offer a non-corporate & freelance discount. To register using this pass, select "Non Corporate & Freelance Pass" as the Registration Type. Follow the prompts. Your registration will be pending until you are approved for the pass via email. How do I register as a Student?

A limited number of discounted passes are available for college and university students. To register using this pass, select "Student" as the Registration Type. Follow the prompts. Your registration will be pending until you are approved for the pass via email. (Please be sure to check your junk or spam folder for email from "registration@locationtech.org.")

How do I register with a Press pass?

We offer free registration to pre-qualified press and analysts. To register using this pass, select "Press" as the Registration Type. Follow the prompts. Your registration will be pending until you are approved for the pass via email. (Please be sure to check your junk or spam folder for email from "registration@locationtech.org.")

How can I cancel my registration if my plans change?

Please email us to cancel your registration. If received by March 15, 2018, we will cancel your registration and charge you $50 for a processing fee. No refund of any kind, for any reason (including medical emergencies), will be given for cancellation requests received on or after March 16, 2018. No-shows are liable for the entire conference fee. In the unlikely event that FOSS4G NA 2018 is cancelled, paid attendees will be refunded for the amount paid for the conference, but the conference organizers are not responsible for any attendee's other related expenses, including hotel and travel.

Can I transfer my registration to another person?

If you register and then are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person.

Please email us to substitute another person. Please try to transfer your registration no later than March 15, 2018 if possible.

Is there a way to add a discount code after I completed my registration?

If you completed your registration, but forgot to enter a discount code, please email us and we will add the discount code to your registration.

How can I get a copy of my registration invoice?

Once you have registered, you will receive two emails. The first is your confirmation email that summarizes your selections and fees. The second email contains your receipt. **Important: Please check your junk or spam folder for the emails. In the event you did not receive both emails, please email us at registration@locationtech.org.

How do I access my registration record after my initial registration?

To access your registration record after you have registered, go to the Registration page on the website and click the "REGISTER NOW" button to access the registration form. On the top of the form, click on "access my registration now." Enter your first name, last name, email address, and password. (If you forgot your password, click "forgot my password" at the bottom of the page. You will receive your password via email within a few minutes.)
